Safety Scoring Methodology

How Coinibi analyzes tokens to identify scams, honeypots, and rug pulls.

The Safety Score

Every token receives a score from 0 to 100 based on 8 key heuristics. A score of 80 or above indicates a relatively safe token, while scores below 50 represent high-risk tokens that may be scams or honeypots.

SafeScore: 80-100
CautionScore: 50-79
High RiskScore: 0-49

8 Safety Heuristics

1

Liquidity Lock Status

Checks if the token's liquidity pool is locked, preventing rug pulls where creators drain liquidity.

PASS: Liquidity locked for 6+ months

FAIL: Unlocked or partially locked liquidity

WEIGHT: 15% of final score

2

Contract Verification

Verifies the smart contract is publicly readable on the blockchain explorer, indicating transparency.

PASS: Contract source code verified on explorer

FAIL: Bytecode only, source not verified

WEIGHT: 12% of final score

3

Mint Authority Status

Checks if the contract creator retains the ability to mint new tokens, which could dilute holders' value.

PASS: Mint authority renounced or disabled

FAIL: Mint authority still active

WEIGHT: 13% of final score

4

Ownership Renounced

Verifies that contract ownership has been renounced, preventing the creator from changing contract parameters.

PASS: Ownership transferred to zero address

FAIL: Creator still has admin control

WEIGHT: 14% of final score

5

Honeypot Simulation

Simulates buying and selling the token to detect if the contract prevents or heavily taxes exits (honeypot contracts).

PASS: Buy/sell simulation succeeds normally

FAIL: Simulation fails or excessive taxes detected

WEIGHT: 16% of final score

6

Top Holder Concentration

Analyzes the percentage of tokens held by the top 10 holders. High concentration increases rug pull risk.

PASS: Top 10 hold less than 20% of supply

FAIL: Top 10 hold more than 50% of supply

WEIGHT: 12% of final score

7

Trading History Analysis

Examines recent trading patterns to detect pump-and-dump schemes, wash trading, or artificial volume inflation.

PASS: Normal price and volume patterns

FAIL: Suspicious spikes, coordinated trades

WEIGHT: 11% of final score

8

Social Presence Verification

Verifies the token has legitimate social media accounts and community presence. Scams often lack real communities.

PASS: Active Twitter/Telegram with real followers

FAIL: No social accounts or suspicious profiles

WEIGHT: 7% of final score

Interpreting Your Score

Score 80-100: Safe

Token passes all or nearly all safety checks. Low-risk investment in terms of scam/rug pull potential. Still carry market risk.

Score 50-79: Caution

Token has some red flags or missing safety features. Proceed with caution. Research further before investing significant capital.

Score 0-49: High Risk

Token has multiple red flags and likely poses significant risk. May be a honeypot, rug pull, or other scam. Avoid unless you fully understand the risks.

Important Limitations

  • Not Financial Advice: Safety scores are informational only and do not constitute financial advice. Always do your own research.
  • Not Foolproof: Advanced scammers may pass multiple checks. No safety score is 100% accurate.
  • Market Risk: A high safety score does not mean the token will increase in value or maintain its price.
  • Limited Coverage: Tier 3 chains may have incomplete data, affecting score accuracy.
  • Dynamic Nature: Scores update as new data becomes available. A safe token today may become unsafe tomorrow.

Safety Best Practices

1. Always Check Multiple Signals

Don't rely on the safety score alone. Check the individual heuristics, verify the contract yourself, and research the project team.

2. Verify Contract Source

Visit the blockchain explorer and review the smart contract code yourself if possible. Look for functions that could be used to lock users out or drain liquidity.

3. Research the Team

Verify the team members are real people with verifiable backgrounds. Anonymous teams are higher risk (though not always scams).

4. Check Community & Market Cap

Legitimate tokens have organic communities and reasonable market caps relative to their use case. Beware of massive hype with no utility.

5. Test with Small Amount

Never invest more than you can afford to lose. Start with small test amounts to verify you can actually buy and sell.
